A Guide to Getting Yourself into Basketball Playing Shape

We all have our own ways to get our bodies into top shape. A lot of the methods we use allow us to lose weight, gain muscle, and enhance our cardiovascular workout. People believe that you can be a great athlete by training your body in just a gym setting. This could not be farther from

the truth. Just like an craft, the only way in which you can become better at something is through practice and participation. That is why I have decided to write an article helping those who want to get into basketball playing shape. Going to the gym is only part of the process, as it takes dedication and several exercises on the court to truly get your body in the proper shape.

The best place to start this journey of molding your body into better playing shape is the basketball court itself. It takes someone who is in great shape to run the court multiple times during an actual game. Many people say that they can do this, but most of them end up walking up the court sometime during the game because they are tired. In order to change this from happening, we need to begin with a popular exercise known as suicides.

Suicides

This exercise begins with you at the end of the basketball court. What you do is run from the end of the court to the free-throw line. Once you lean down and touch the foul line, you race back to the end of the court. Now, this is where the fun truly begins (sarcasm). Once you reach the end of the court, you turn right back around and run to the top of the three-point line. You will touch the line the same way in which you touched the free-throw line. Then you will turn around once again and run to the end of the court. After you do that, you will run to the half-court line, touching it and running back yet again. You repeat this process, touching every important line on the court until you go from one end, to the other side, back to the original end.
