A Guide to Getting Yourself into Basketball Playing Shape

We all have our own ways to get our bodies into top shape. A lot of the methods we use allow us to lose weight, gain muscle, and enhance our cardiovascular workout. People believe that you can be a great athlete by training your body in just a gym setting. This could not be farther from

the truth. Just like an craft, the only way in which you can become better at something is through practice and participation. That is why I have decided to write an article helping those who want to get into basketball playing shape. Going to the gym is only part of the process, as it takes dedication and several exercises on the court to truly get your body in the proper shape.

The best place to start this journey of molding your body into better playing shape is the basketball court itself. It takes someone who is in great shape to run the court multiple times during an actual game. Many people say that they can do this, but most of them end up walking up the court sometime during the game because they are tired. In order to change this from happening, we need to begin with a popular exercise known as suicides.

Suicides

This exercise begins with you at the end of the basketball court. What you do is run from the end of the court to the free-throw line. Once you lean down and touch the foul line, you race back to the end of the court. Now, this is where the fun truly begins (sarcasm). Once you reach the end of the court, you turn right back around and run to the top of the three-point line. You will touch the line the same way in which you touched the free-throw line. Then you will turn around once again and run to the end of the court. After you do that, you will run to the half-court line, touching it and running back yet again. You repeat this process, touching every important line on the court until you go from one end, to the other side, back to the original end.

Welcome to all basketball fans and inspired youth. I wanted to drop by and inform you that we are live and working in the South TX area. This girls basketball camp will be phenomenal, you can not miss this. Thank you to the Lady Prodigy Program for moving in this area and opening the doors for our young female basketball players to be successful.

Girls Basketball Camps for Recruiting

Playing for the University of Tennessee, University of Connecticut, Rutgers University, Louisiana State University and other women's college basketball programs are dreams of girls basketball players. But how can you get recruited to play college basketball? In order to be recruited by a college coach you have to be seen by either the head coach or someone on their staff. Here are ways to be seen.

Attend summer basketball camp!

All major college basketball programs have summer basketball camps. In fact they have several kinds of camps; team camps, elite camps, fundamental camps, etc. The earlier in your career you attend a camp, the better. Why? If you are a freshman and need to work on skills, you have time to develop the skills. There is no better place to get a college basketball coach to see you than at their own gym. Not only that, you can have an actually one-on-one conversation with them, their staff and players. It's the perfect opportunity to see who they are off the court.

Play summer basketball!

Coaches are limited on how much time they have to watch players play. However, there are summer tournaments and camps available were coaches can come out and watch you play. They are called NCAA certified events. Dozens of college coaches come to these events to watch players perform.

Develop your game!

Attending college basketball camps and playing summer basketball does not guarantee you to be recruited if you can not play at a top level. College coaches are looking for players that can play and compete on their level. Are you that type of player? If you're not and it's early in your basketball career, work on your game. Get in the gym and get better.

Girls Basketball Camps
In reality, basketball season does not end after tournament time. There are actually 3 seasons of basketball, pre-season, the-season and post-season. Post-season is used to work on individual skills and development. Pre-season is used to work on team conditioning and development. And the infamous "the-season" is the time to show off what you have done during the post-season and pre-season. Girls basketball camps are generally held during the post-season and to get the most out of attending camps follow these tips.

 Be serious and Pay attention

Playing basketball is fun. Being at a basketball camp with friends and teammates, along with meeting new people, is an awesome experience. However, attending a basketball camp is also a learning experience. If you want to elevate your game, take attending a girls basketball camp seriously. Pay attention to the little nuggets and information that you receive at the camp. There may be one small thing that you learn that can be the difference from you being a starter compared to a role player. It can be the different from you averaging single digits to double digits in scoring. It can be different from you getting off the bench.

Build relationships with staff and players.
Depending on the type of basketball camp that you attend use it to network and build relationships. If you are attending a college basketball camp, the camp is located on the college campus and it will feature the coaching staff and players of the school. This is a great opportunity to experience being on a college campus and playing in their facility or gym.

It's also an opportunity to hang out with college coaches and players. Feel free to ask them questions about your game, college life and college basketball. You will not get a better change to actually be face-to-face with a college coach or player than at their camp. Take advantage of it. You never know if that coach or player will be a future coach of yours.

I always like to stress that basketball should be fun first. However, the more you continue to play and grow as a player, the more serious and competitive it becomes. Use basketball camps wisely to develop as a player and to also build relationships.
